Description

[Diabolic Tendency :: Parabolic Sprinkles Series 2/?]

First things first: This photo is NOT the result of a photoshop action. Photoshop was only used minimally to adjust levels and color balance. <--- sorry, just had to get it out of my system! ^^"

----------

Pieces in this series:

----------

A series of experimental pieces in introducing analogue (with minor photoshoping) artifacts to digital shots, more to come very soon! :D

----------

* The What: A series of experimental pieces in introducing analogue artifacts in to digital shots.

* The How: Simple really! Load any old photo you have on a computer screen, and then take a shot of the screen with a close up lens, a jelled flash, and a polarizer filter on the lens. Smudge the screen a bit and experiment with different flash angles, and maybe even add a bit of cigarette smoke for some extra artifacts.

Try it out yourselves and tell me how it goes! :D

* Original shot: [link]

* Camera: Nikon D90 + 18-105mm kit lens + close up filter (+5) + adjustable polarization filter.

I think this is the best example of your experiments. It shows the perfect union between technique and image. The other experiments did not connect well for me because the image on your screen did not mesh well with the technique, in my opinion. (I am sure others feel differently about this.) You have successfully created a moody, dark and textured image without the extensive use of Photoshop or similar programs.

Of course this is extremely original because of the process. Originality is only down slightly because I am used to seeing a lot of creepy eyes related to horror photography sections on other sites.

The two circles above the eye are quite distracting. This could be due to brightness and/or size.

I think you have discovered a great technique that would lend itself useful for creating abstract, moody and/or surreal images. Best of luck to you, and try not to damage your monitor! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)" />
